The Closet is Done!

Well, it's been done for a few days, but I've been really pooped lately. It was an absolute pain, but I'm really pleased with the results. I'm so pleased every time I walk into my blue closet!

We did have one casualty, though: Sophie decided to take a nap on the dropcloth and came away with some blue streaks:
Morgan seems to have lost interest in painting, thankfully:
She even had a rare moment of sweetness!
Once I finish the bathroom, the bedroom will be DONE! Mike had to remove a grab bar and towel rod in the bathroom, leaving holes in the wall, which had to be patched, so needless to say it's taken a few days to fix. Next project: the living room!

Hi Jacki, thought I'd just come over here and reply to your question about Olivia's ears. She had tubes put in when she was 14 months old. (They never helped her, she still had constant ear infections.) At some point her body tried to reject the tubes, and her one ear canal became inflamed with scar tissue. She had surgery to remove the tubes and plug the holes in her eardrums. One ear healed perfectly, the other didn't. So last year in May she had surgery at U of I in Iowa City. They took a certain kind of tissue from the muscle in the side of her head and made a new eardrum for her, and took skin from under her arm to do a skin graft in her ear canal after they cut out all the scar tissue.

The surgery was a big success. Her hearing has returned to normal levels. She doesn't have to avoid water, although if she swims a lot she tends to get an ear infection. But this summer we used homemade ear drops - 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 rubbing alcohol - and that seems to take care of any problems with water in her ear.
