Has anybody ever used or heard good things about any of those travel websites where you can get a good deal on a hotel? Mike and I are thinking about going to Atlanta for a few days in August, but obviously we need to save money. Also, if anyone knows of any fun things to do, good restaurants, etc. in the Atlanta/Helen area, please let me know! Thanks guys.

If you haven't been to the World of Coca-Cola it's a lot of fun.

Buckhead Grill was a pretty fun place to eat as was Pitty Pat's Porch, but both were "special occasion" pricey.

If you get up Alpharetta way there is a fantastic restaurant ...KillerCreek. It's also mid-pricey, but well worth it.

Up the hill from KillerCreek is Pappadeaux. I heard from a friend that it is excellent!

Hope you have a good time. Atlanta would be my choice for a great place to live, but unfortunately the ol' job is here. LOL

The Whistle Stop Cafe was still running last I was up there. Its actually in Joliet...less than an hour south of Atlanta...but famous from Fried Green Tomatoes lore =) Being the southern girl you are and all. Make sure to and catch a Braves game if you can =)
